research projects (lab equipments) and the transversal institutional strengthening priorities needed for a more optimal functioning of the university in its regional /national context and for international cooperation and extension to society, these include ICT equipment and network infrastructure,library,language centers, student admin etc. The second phase focuses on the partner programme consolidation and valorisation.

To decrease processing costs and increase the value of bio-based fuels in Africa through the use of underutilized African plants for the production of fuels, including biodiesel, using agricultural wastes for producing low-cost bio-based (heterogeneous) catalysts and natural antioxidants, while exploring the further processing of fatty acids through ketonization and aldol condensation to increase fuel versatility and value.

PROGRAMME TITLE: Sustainable management of natural resources to the benefit of the local communities of Northern Tanzania

Objective 1: The training and research capacity of NM-AIST in areas of sustainable management of natural resources to improve food security, safe water and ecosystem services increased considerably, consolidating the position of NM-AIST as a research institute.

Objective 2: The capacity of NM-AIST to collect and share big data and valorize research results for industries and agriculture to the benefit of the people of northern Tanzania has increased considerably.
